Thank You Lewisville!
This week, the Central Park Area Neighbors Association (CPANA), the Lewisville Morning Rotary (Rotary) and RockPointe Church (RockPointe) made generous contributions to schools in the Central Zone.
As part of their “Hands Across the Community” program April 29, more than 100 volunteers from RockPointe visited Vickery Elementary where they remodeled staff bathrooms, installed two new display cases, constructed a new flower bed, created an outdoor learning area with picnic tables to accommodate classes outside, weeded and watered the school garden and made decorations to go in the planters around the school! Click here to see photos from the day! RockPointe has also provided dinner and snacks for teachers throughout the school year.
April 30, the Rotary also visited Vickery. While there, they presented every third-grader with a dictionary that will help them with their studies for years to come. The Rotary has also provided dictionaries to third-grade students at Lakeland, Central and Independence Elementaries. Rotary members sponsor a number of other student recognition initiatives in the district and volunteer their time to help mentor students.

Vickery Elementary third-graders pose with members of the Lewisville Morning Rotary to say "thank you" for their dictionaries.

Principals were thrilled to receive over $50,000 in grants from Central Park Area Neighbors Association.
This week, CPANA granted over $50,000 to Creekside, Lakeland, Lewisville, and Parkway Elementaries; Durham and Hedrick Middle Schools; Lewisville High School; Lewisville Learning Center; and Lillie Jackson Early Childhood Center. Varying dollar amounts were awarded to each campus for projects such as gardens, a weather station, needed furniture, technology and even additional tutoring. All grants were awarded by CPANA through the Lewisville Education Foundation (LEF). May 1, CPANA representative Steve Southwell and LEF representatives presented the grant money to campuses principals. Look for a full story on how these funds are helping students this fall!
These are just a few examples of how LISD is partnering with its community to provide engaging, innovative experiences for all learners.
